El Paso Gas Prices Up Again

Posted: 3:35 am MDT September 15, 2008Updated: 11:34 am MDT September 15, 2008

Gas prices are up 20 cents on average across El Paso, as much as $3.75 a gallon in some parts of the city.

While hurricanes Gustav and more recently Ike have forced the shut down of critical oil refineries on the coast driving up prices at the pump, comparing prices before fueling up can save you as much as 20 cents on every gallon of gas.

While some gas stations are selling gas for $3.75 cents a gallon, the same gallon of regular unleaded is going for $3.59 at other gas stations some as cheap as $3.49.

Some El Pasoans tell KFOX the jump in prices has not gone unnoticed.

"They really rose. It use to be $3.49 now I saw $3.79 it's really, really high now," said Vanessa Landeros of East El Paso.

No word on when prices will come down. At least 14 Texas refineries, representing nearly a quarter of the nation's refining capacity, will probably remain shut for the next week or more.
