Health And Human Service Department Announce Closure Of El Paso Office

The Inspector General's office of the U.S. Health and Human Services Department announced Friday it will be closing its El Paso office.

The Office of the Inspector General confirmed that the two special agents working for that office will be reassigned to Dallas.

The office cited budget constraints for the relocation.

Several elected officials have already made it known they don't agree with the move.

"We've been involved in Medicare/Medicaid issues for the last year. We're concerned about the fraud and the unscrupulous salesmen that are out there selling Medicare/Medicaid issues," said State Rep. Chente Quintanilla.

Rep. Silvestre Reyes opposes the relocation of the agents and he sent KFOX this statement:

“These agents are doing important work here in El Paso to protect Medicare beneficiaries and taxpayers. My staff has been in contact with officials from the HHS and I will continue to press the agency's leadership to reconsider this move."
