EL PASO, Texas -- Residents living on Bandolero Drive in West El Paso said they're fed up with people speeding through their neighborhood."You take a chance when you back out of your driveway. I looked out the road many times and seen a clear road when I backed out and then when I looked the second time in my rear view mirror there was a guy right on my tailgate, said Ray Rivera of West El Paso.Although the street has unsafe passing lanes and signs indicating a decrease in the speed limit and curvy roads ahead, it doesn't seem to slow drivers down."I was out one morning cutting the grass as I looked up there was some gentlemen that just barely swerved missing my mailbox, Rivera said.Just last week an accident on Bandolero Drive caused quite a scare for neighbors. Rivera said the car drove over a curb, knocking down a bush to its roots as it skid through the yard.Rivera said had it not been for some bushes on the curb, the situation would have been worse. He could've gone right through that ladies front door, said Rivera.KFOX spoke with El Paso police spokesman, Javier Sambrano who said Bandolero Drive has a high number of traffic complaints, which is why they began patrolling the area even more, but still, Rivera said he'd like to see more done."Perhaps set up a couple of speed bumps to make them slow down, especially close to the curves. What makes my neighborhood your race track?" Rivera said.If you have any traffic concerns in your neighborhood you can call the city Traffic Engineering department at 541-4050.
