Truck Driver Faces Felony Charges In Both TX And NM

A truck driver faces multiple charges Wednesday after police said she led police on a chase that stretched from Anthony, Texas, to Las Cruces, N.M.

Anthony police called Doña Ana County sheriff's deputies for help after they said truck driver, Susan Lee Way wouldn't pull over in Texas.

Deputies then pursued the 18-wheeler for about 30 miles until state police deployed stop sticks that flattened the truck's tires on Interstate 10 in Las Cruces, near the Picacho exit.

Deputies said Lee Way, of Arizona, told them she fled because she was a felon in possession of a firearm and feared being arrested.

Deputies learned she had a warrant out of Florida and also found two more guns in her truck.

She is being charged with felony evading in New Mexico and charges are pending in Texas for escape from custody and assault on a peace officer.
