Residents Complain About Dangerous Curve On Caroline Drive

Lower Valley residents said a busy street has some dangerous curves. People who drive on North Carolina Drive on a daily basis know the potential of danger on this road.

"I do think it's a dangerous curve," said Patricia Enciso from the Lower Valley.

Enciso knows firsthand how dangerous it can be. She said six years ago she rolled her car while trying to avoid another car coming in the opposite direction.

She knows her wreck could have been worse when she thinks about what happened last week. Ernesto Garcia, 33, lost his life when he veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with city van. Police say speed and the curve were likely factor in the crash.

"People go pretty fast around here. I think they should put a light right here," said Edgar Olvera from the Lower Valley.

Although residents have concerns about the road, a request for a multi-stop or signal to the city didn't meet requirements. Police officials said officers were dispatched to only two accidents this year.

"I really don't know what could be done about it because it's a curve. Maybe people need to be more cautious about it," said Enciso.

The city's development and engineering department encourages residents to call and submit complaints and request for studies. The number you can call is 541-4050
