JUAREZ, Mexico -- The gear of a Juarez police officer saved his life.

Police were called out to a robbery at a furniture factory and caught up with the thieves as they were trying to get away.

The four thieves were all armed with guns and took shots at police officers.

Juarez police Officer Fernando Ortega Hermosillo was shot five times but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

Hermosillo is 27 years old.
