Fireworks Can Be Stressful For Pets

Fireworks may be fun for you, but it can be scary for your pets.

Animal Services are reminding everyone not to bring their pets to firework shows and keep them indoors during thunderstorms.

Eexperts said fireworks and thunder are stressful to animals, especially dogs and cats.

Signs of stress include shaking, excessive drooling, barking or howling and refusing to eat.

Carla Alvarado of the Humane Society of El Paso said, “If the dog becomes frightened. We ask that you close the curtains, close the doors to minimize the noise from the fireworks."

If you still want to take your pets out, the Humane Society also suggests taking them for a walk first, and make sure they use the restroom before fireworks start.
