Diesel Averages 80 Cents Higher Per Gallon Over Regular Unleaded

Some Sun City residents have to fill up with diesel gas that are at jaw-dropping prices. Ingo Eilers loves his early '90s Mercedes Benz with a diesel engine, and gas prices used to not be a problem.

"A few years ago, yeah it was cheaper than gasoline, regular gasoline, so that time it was good," said Eilers.

But the good times have come to an end.

"Well that's very expensive," said Eilers, talking about diesel gas. "Now I pay $4.60 a gallon, and compared to 2005 it was like $2.50."

Diesel on average hovers around 80 cents a gallon higher than regular unleaded.

"Now I have to pay like $55 a week, that makes $220 a month, that's pretty expensive," Eilers told KFOX.

Eilers said on longer trips, he takes out the other family car, which runs on regular unleaded.

"Often do think about taking the Buick because the diesel is just too expensive," said Eilers.

Despite the fact that he loves his early '90s Mercedes Benz, Eilers is now considering trading it in.

"Nowadays I should do that, thinking about buying a new car, because diesel, I can't afford it anymore," said Eilers.
