NMSU President Could Be Next Provost For LSU

New Mexico State University president Michael Martin is a search committe's unanimous choice to be Louisiana State University's next provost.

With Friday's recommendation, the final decision on whether Martin is hired rests with LSU president John Lombardi and the university's board of supervisors.

Lombardi, who has worked with Martin before, called him a fine candidate.

LSU's board of supervisors could make a decision about hiring Martin at its next meeting on June 5.

Martin has been NMSU's president since July of 2004.
