EL PASO, Texas -- After a grandmother was killed and her 2-year old granddaughter is in critical condition, the search for a hit-and-run driver continues. Those who live in the area of a deadly pedestrian accident told KFOX lighting is to blame."I've been telling my wife for years, it is just a matter of time before somebody got hit out here and unfortunately this really turned tragic," James Drumheller said. He lives in the home directly in front of where the accident happened. It's a tragedy that took the life of 72- year-old Flavia Estrello and critically injured her 2-year-old granddaughter who was in a stroller. Drumheller said it could have been avoided.District 4 Rep. Melina Castro said there have been seveal requests over the past few years for lights and speed bumps on neighboring Quail Street. Those requests were denied but the traffic department said there is not enough traffic on the street, something she is now working to change."Nothing that we are going to do from this point on is going to bring this person back," she said.Castro is working to bring at least a couple of new lights to Cross Street, where the accident happened. Meanwhile, police are still looking for the driver of the car that killed the elderly woman and critically injured her granddaughter. They are looking for a dark blue Mustang with major front-end damage. If you have any information, please call Crimestoppers at 566-8477
