EL PASO, Texas -- KFOX first told you on Sunday about the relatively easy process to get new street lighting in your neighborhood, but one El Pasoan says it hasn't been easy for him. David Chavez lives on Dick Mayers Drive, and he said he worries about his three children because of the sharp turn in front of his house."The past five years that we've lived here, we've had his wall replaced at least four times, we've had cars hit here, I've had three vehicles in my yard, missing my house by inches," Chavez told KFOX.A little over a year ago a number of residents petitioned the city to get a street light to illuminate the turn. Chavez said since then, he hasn't heard anything about it."As far as I knew, nothing had been done, so that's why you know I was getting tired of seeing it on the news, well everybody is getting approval, but yet we weren't," said Chavez. So KFOX went to his city representative, Eddie Holguin, to find out what happened."I have the petition, it was approved by my office, it was approved by staff to move down through the process," said Holguin.Holguin said the city couldn't put the street light in the exact place the residents wanted it, but they could put it two homes down, and they needed those home owner's signatures for final approval. So what turned out to be the problem? Where was the miscommunication? Well, what KFOX found was the contact person, they don't live there anymore."They moved out because nothing was being done in the neighborhood," said Chavez. So word has now gotten to Chavez, and he said he will take the necessary steps to bring light to where he lives."The affected neighbors now have to sign a petition which is a very simple petition, four or five signatures, that they want that street light," said Holguin.
