UPDATED: 7:44 pm MDT May 6, 2008

Authorities said a Flavia Estrello, 72, and grandaughter Aliana Gonzalez, 2, were the victims of a hit-and-run crash just before 9 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses said the family was crossing Cross Street near Quail Avenue in northeast El Paso when the woman and the stroller the 2-year-old was riding in were hit.

Both were taken to Thomason Hospital. Estrello died a short time later, Gonzalez remains in critical condition.

Police are looking for a dark-colored Ford Mustang with a red glowing light in the interior. The license plate is said to have two small spotlights. Investigators said the car may have front-end damage and a broken windshield.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
