Central New Mexico Fire Continues To Rage

The dangerous blaze in the Manzano Mountains has burned a little over 4,000 acres as of Tuesday.

The Trigo fire destroyed nine homes, nine buildings and two recreational vehicles.

The eastern edge of the blaze is about a mile west of Manzano and about 2 miles northwest of Torreon.

The Torrance County emergency manager said an order for voluntary evacuations for Manzano and Torreon was lifted Tuesday morning.

Three-hundred and eighty-nine people were assigned to battle the blaze that began a week ago Tuesday on the west side.

The damage of the fire adds to about $2.3 million so far and is believed to be caused by someone.

So far, 27 percent of the fire has been contained.
