Truck Drivers Protest On Soaring Gas Prices

Truck drivers feel the pain at the pump even worse.

Diesel fuel prices now average nearly $4 a gallon nationwide, about $0.65 higher than the national average for regular unleaded.

It's led some truck drivers to pull off the road this week in protest.

Here in El Paso, some truck drivers hit the streets in protest Wednesday.

One truck driver told our KFOX Morning News crew he needs to keep working to put food on his family's table, but soaring diesel prices have made it harder to make ends meet.

“The oil companies they see the amount of money we spend on it, and I think they just gouge us. It's just a rip-off. There's no fuel shortage, so why we're paying these prices, I haven't a clue," said truck driver Tracy Roznosky.

Checking the survey provided by our partners at El Paso Gas Prices.Com, diesel right now is going for anywhere from $3.80 to $3.94 a gallon around town.
