Alleged Border Patrol Impersonator Arrested

A border patrol impersonator was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in to the Las Cruces Police Department.

David I. Ramos, 36, walked into the Las Cruces Police Department after 2:30 p.m. turning himself in.

The former Border Patrol trainee, is wanted in Otero County on charges of kidnapping and criminal sexual penetration while posing as a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

An arrest warrant also was issued out of Dona Ana County Magistrate Court after Arenas impersonated a police officer on March 11 and stopped a state vehicle driven by a female employee of the district attorney’s office.
