Border Patrol Impersonator Stops Vehicles In Dona Ana County
Officials warn the public that a former Border Patrol trainee is posing as a Border Patrol officer in Dona Ana County.David I. Ramos Arenas, 36, is a former Border Patrol trainee who is wanted in Otero County on charges of kidnapping and second-degree criminal sexual penetration, while in the guise of a federal officer, and is now wanted in Dona Ana County for allegedly posing as a federal officer, stopping vehicles and questioning drive rs .The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department has a issued a warrant for Arenas, charging him with false imprisonment and impersonating a police office, after Arenas allegedly stopped a state vehicle on March 11., while being driven by a female employee with the District Attorney’s office.Arenas at the time was wearing a green Border Patrol shirt with badge and denim pants. After identifying himself as an Immigration Officer to the woman, he demanded to see her identification. The woman showed Arenas an ID that said she was an employee with the District Attorney’s office. Arenas allegedly threatened to detain and arrest the woman, then informed her that he would follow her to the District Attorney’s office to verify her employment. As the woman drove away, Arenas turned in the opposite direction and drove away.Arenas was last seen in a gray Dodge truck with an extended cab.Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department at 575-525-1911.
