EL PASO, Texas -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is coming to El Paso, and her supporters are planning on a full house at the Don Haskins Center when she arrives on Tuesday."That's a very special moment, and a very exciting one in the sense that here is a prominent national figure coming to this area," said Gregory Rocha, a UTEP political science professor.El Paso residents, particularly those on the UTEP campus where Clinton will speak, are fired up about the opportunity to see her."I think it's really good because, like, since I've been here, I haven't really heard of any political figures coming to El Paso," said Jenny Saucedo from Central El Paso."I think that it's important that El Paso has been able to attract a national candidate, I've been here for five years, we have never had someone come and speak on her level," said Deidre Conklin from West El Paso."It's a good opportunity for the people here to see what her views are," said Erasmo Duran from East El Paso. But Clinton coming to El Paso is no surprise to the experts. Many said the Hispanic vote is key to her beating the other Democratic candidate, Sen. Barack Obama."Someway, somehow she has to develop a firewall, and that firewall I think from her perspective is Texas, in particularly Hispanic voters," said Rocha. So now the question remains will Clinton coming to the Sun City help her pick up votes?"I think she will sway a couple of votes, I think Barack is a much better candidate," said Ryan Sida from West El Paso."I think that Hillary coming to El Paso could sway some votes in her favor, however Hillary already has a lot of support from El Paso's demographic," said Conklin.Obama and Clinton will debate in Austin on Feb. 21, and 126 of the 228 Texas delegates are up for grabs on the March 4 primary.Hillary Clinton will be at the Don Haskins Center on Tuesday. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and it is first come, first served, no tickets are necessary. Clinton is expected to speak at 6:30 p.m. and last about an hour. The Haskins Center seats 12,000 people, and area leaders hope to fill it to capacity.
