El Paso Police Open Fire On Goat

Posted: 7:19 pm MST December 21, 2007Updated: 7:26 pm MST December 21, 2007

El Paso police were busy at around lunchtime tracking down a goat.

Officers said the goat was running loose on Border Highway near Yarbrough Street at about noon Friday.

Police said after trying to catch the animal, they ended up shooting and killing the goat, because it almost caused some accidents on the highway.

"If it's an animal-type shooting, then our shooting review team that does our investigation, and I believe that's being done today," said El Paso police spokesman Chris Mears.

However, unlike a police shooting involving a person, the officer who fires the gun is not placed on administrative leave.
