Couples Complain About Wedding Planner

POSTED: 7:23 pm MST November 26, 2007
UPDATED: 8:53 pm MST November 26, 2007

Several alleged victims said their wedding planner took their money and didn't provide services.

One bride speaks out against the wedding planner who allegedly charged her more than $800 and didn't plan the event.

She said the planner is still in business and wants to warn other potential victims.

It takes months to plan a wedding. It took Ivette Costa-Miranda a few weeks to pull hers off. That's because she says her wedding planner failed to do her job.

"When it got really bad, in the summer as it got closer to the wedding, she hadn't done anything at all," said Costa-Miranda.

Costa-Miranda said Liz Rey with BRE Wedding Planner promised to order rental items, help with the design of reception and countless of other things, but she said Rey never delivered.

"The date was approaching, you're stressed because you have all these things you have to do, all these items to be checked off and no one is there helping you out, especially when you've paid for that service," said Costa-Miranda.

Costa-Miranda showed KFOX her receipts. She paid a cash deposit of $400, later she paid hundreds more for other services, money she hasn't gotten back.

Costa-Miranda said she plans to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. KFOX called the BBB before the interview and were told there was only one complaint against BRE Wedding Planners but that they've received several calls inquiring about her business.

KFOX went to BRE Wedding Planner located at a far east El Paso residence to look for Rey, but no one was home and she never returned our calls. Ivette said she was surprised to hear from another wedding planner that he had to picked up several other weddings Rey allegedly left hanging.

"The next time there's another bridal show, I will be there to make sure the kind of person she is because I wouldn't want another bride to go through what I went through," said Costa-Miranda.
