Skid marks can be seen Friday morning on Resler Drive right before reaching the bus stop on Belvidere Street. Also noticeable were two palm trees had been ripped out of the ground and a bus stop full of blood.

Police said it was caused by two men drag racing Friday at 1 a.m. One man said he saw when the cars speed off on Resler Drive and Redd Road.

“We were leaving the Circle K and saw two guys racing. They were going very fast, almost 70 mph," said Abraham Enriquez, who tried to help after coming across the accident scene.

“This road is straight but there are some dips in it,” said Sgt. Gabriel Lucero of the El Paso Police Department.

Police said the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car. He landed next to a bus stop. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital with serious injuries.

As of Friday morning, police say the 22-year-old was in stable condition.

“He tried getting up but couldn't, and he was losing a lot of blood. He was hurt pretty bad,” said Enriquez. The other driver, 19, confessed to police they were racing. He told KFOX he regrets what he did, and this experience might make him change his mind about drag racing.

Police arrested the 19-year-old and charged him with drag racing.

Police said they will charge the other driver once he is out of the hospital.
