More than two months after allegedly finding 21 pit bulls living in filthy conditions in Chaparral, Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies made at least one arrest.

Investigators said they arrested 50-year-old Daron Scott on Tuesday afternoon at Santa Teresa high school.

Scott is a teacher there.

His twin brother, Duryea, was expected to turn himself in by 7 Tuesday evening, but the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department said he did not show up by 8:30 p.m.

They each face numerous charges including two counts of extreme cruelty to animals.
