Another 4-1 Cav Soldier Dead

Fort Bliss announced on Wednesday that another soldier from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division died on Tuesday in Ninewah Province, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident.

Spc. Matthew J. Emerson, 20, died when he suffered from a non-combat related injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

This death brings the total number of casualties sustained by the 4-1 BCT to 28.

On Tuesday, Fort Bliss announced the death of Pvt. 1st Class Brandon Thorsen of Trenton, Fla. He died on Saturday in Baghdad of non-combat related injuries.

The latest news of the deaths comes in the heels of a memorial for three other fallen Fort Bliss soldiers.

On Wednesday morning, Fort Bliss honored three soldiers; Sgt. Eric Cottrell, Cpl. Juan Lopez Jr. and Cpl Paulomarko Pacificador. They were members of the 4th Brigade, 1st Calvary Division supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom in Qayyarah, Iraq -- a brigade that has lost 28 troops in battle.
