Hundreds of El Pasoans are getting hitched Saturday; but it is no ordinary Saturday. The date is July 7, 2007, otherwise known as 7-7-7. People all over the world are taking advantage of what is being called the luckiest day of the century by getting married.

Irma Sanchez's goddaughter is getting married Saturday. She said the triple sevens have great significance.

"She says lucky sevens. She got the jackpot and that is her day. She found what she wanted, the man of her life ," Irma Sanchez said.

Sanchez's goddaughter is not alone, according to the county courthouse. Last year at this time officials awarded 52 marriage licenses. This year theyawarded 135 for the same weekend.

The increase in licenses means an increase in business for bridal shops like David's Bridal.

"We are trending right now above at least 15 percent over even our planned figures ," said Guadeloupe Karnes, the store's manager.

She says she hopes all the couples have great luck in their love for years to come.
