Storms Bring Heavy Rain & Hail

More Rain Expected Today

Heavy rains pushed in Sunday night and some say they were caught off guard by how fast the rain started piling up.

"Heavy rain. It was kinda like torrential downpours like you see in Florida when they are having a squall or something like that," said George Smith from Tucson, Ariz .

In east El Paso, especially around the intersection of McRea and Montwood Streets, water gathered quickly, forming large puddles and in some parts even flooded.

"Basically just the regular heavy down pour and the streets were flooding and I think El Paso has an issue with that because the streets have been flooding a lot," said Angel Villalpando, Far East El Paso.

And this flooding in some intersections had some drivers taking it slow, hoping to hit only pavement when crossing flooded intersections.

"Sometimes there are really deep pot holes and they get filled with water and you can't see them. So, you think it is just water, but then you end up hitting a pothole ,"Villalpando said.

Portions of East El Paso also got hammered by hail for 15 to 20 minutes.

"They were about marble size I guess," said Louis Smith.

Emergency crews said no one was injured during Sunday night's storm.
