One person is dead and three others are recovering Thursday night after a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 10, west of Las Cruces.

New Mexico State Police told KFOX it happened just after noon Thursday near mile marker 128, when the rear tire of a van traveling from Nevada blew out and separated.

Police said the van flipped, ejecting 63-year-old Alicia Thomas and killing her.

The accident closed part of the freeway for more than an hour.

Police told KFOX Thomas was riding in the back seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
