Railroad Crossings Blamed For Tire Damage
Two railroad tracks near La Mesa show signs of deterioration. The railroad crossings, one of them off State Road 478, show silver studs of at least one inch in diameter peering over the tracks.
Renee Pucel of La Mesa blames the studs for damaging about six of her truck's tires, which has cost her hundreds of dollars.
"It's going over the railroad tracks and they pop," she said. "I want [the railway] fixed so that I don't have to buy tires every two or three weeks."
Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway, the company that operates the railroad, said they did not know of any repairs needed. However they are looking into the concerns, according to the company.
The company's regional public information officer, Joseph Faust, asks that drivers can contact him with any concerns on the railways.
He can be reached at joseph.faust@bnsf.com.
