Hundreds gathered at Holloman Air Force base near Alamogordo to honor a soldier killed earlier in June in Iraq.

Army Spc. Christopher Kurth, who's from Alamogordo, was killed in a grenade attack in Kirkuk, Iraq, on June 4.

Those at Holloman saluted to the fallen soldier as his casket arrived at the base.

Funeral services for Kurth will take place Saturday in Alamogordo.
