Baghdad, Iraq -- The Department of Defense announced Tuesday afternoon the death of Pfc. Brandon T. Thorsen, 22, of Trenton, Fla.

Thorsen died September 15 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident September 14 in Baghdad.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

This brings a total of 27 casualties under the 4th brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
