November 6, 2006 -- Fort Bliss is making some significant changes to its master plan to accomodate for the thousands of troops moving to El Paso and due to a change in mission.

The military post is looking for more off-road mobility, along with changes in the living areas of Fort Bliss to improve the quality of life for soldiers.

Fort Bliss is also making these changes with the hope of doing them in the most environmentally responsible way.

Army officials say these public comment meetings are critical to the master plan process.

The last two meetings are this Wednesday night in Alamogordo at the City Commission Chambers. The last meeting is in El Paso on Thursday night, at the Chapin High School library. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m.
