El Paso Soldier Laid To Rest

October 4, 2006 -- An El Paso-born soldier who was killed in Iraq was laid to rest with full military honors on Wednesday.
A 21-gun salute was fired moments after the wife of Sgt. Velton Locklear III was presented with his Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals.
As part of the tradition, she also received the flag that draped his coffin.
As KFOX reported, Locklear was killed by an improvised explosive device in Iraq on Sept. 23.
He also leaves behind two young sons.
