When I sit back and think about it (and I've been sitting back all day), I believe this might just be the most successful DePaul Day ever.
A look at the checklist...
Adversity that would have phased us on any other day: DePaul racing out to an 8-0 lead.
Memorable moment: Uhhh...
Improbable hero: The guy who overturned the original charge call and saved us all from a Kuric-esque bad stigma that would have tainted the highlight.
Memorable achievement: Russ Smith is the 65th 1,000-point scorer in Louisville basketball history.
Hilarious DePaul moments: Plenty. Players staring at the video screen during a huddle. Fifty-five missed lay-ups. Fear the D spotlighted in the student section. NIT appearances listed above NCAA Tournament appearances on the courtside ribbon. Did you see Chane's dunk?
Great ending: DePaul botching a spiteful alley-oop attempt and then Gorgui dribbling out the clock for 25 seconds certainly qualifies.
But most of all, DePaul Day was great because of the 'Cloids. Look at all of the stuff that was produced today:
And finally, the DePaul Day Battle Rap premonition about Dibs throwing his Ls up comes true.
You're all heroes, and you all made today a lot of fun.
Now, let's go back to respecting opponents and getting nervous during games and stuff.
