Growing up in Paducah, Ky.,
Steven Curtis Chapman could often be found listening to the Grand Ole Opry with his family. So this Saturday night (March 16) is a dream come true for the award-winning Christian music artist, as he's performing on the Opry with his dad Herb Chapman, Sr., and brother Herb, Jr. Both featured on his new album,
Deep Roots, which became available this week at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations.
"When I was a kid if the weather was just right we could hear WSM [AM] playing," Steven tells The Boot. "My dad would tune it in. We'd be driving home from the store and I remember him saying, 'Son, that's the Grand Ole Opry!' You'd hear
Lester Flatt or
Bill Monroe play their songs and my dad said, 'That's where music comes from right there!'"
