Back By Popular Demand Have you by chance ever heard of the “The Platters”? This group emerged in the mid to late 1950s. “The Platters” sold more records, played more venues, appeared in more films, and romanced more Americans than any other group of their time. With their simple romantic melodies and satin smooth voices; “The Platters” were a phenomenon. They were first Black Doo-wop group to ever have a number one hit “pop” record as well as the first to cross racial barriers. You will have the opportunity to experience this group’s music “LIVE” on Thursday, February 14, 2013; at the Centennial Banquet & Conference Center on Biggs Army Airfield, Fort Bliss, TX.. All proceeds will benefit Lions Clubs International charities in El Paso, the State of Texas and nationally. North Carolina native, Milton Bullock would become a vital part of the 1960s second generation of that group. He would be introduced to “The Platters” in 1957 and would be offered the rare opportunity ‘to join’ the group’s founder; “Herb Reed” (bass singer) of the group. Later Bullock replaced David Lynch. From 1965 until 1970 he performed as the group’s 1st tenor on such songs as; “Only You”- “The Great Pretender”- “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” – “My Prayer” [Mercury Records]. Then on into the 60s Beach era with such smash hits on Musicor Records as; “With This Ring” – “Washed A-shore” – “Think Before You Walk Away Girl” – “So Many Tears” – “Sweet, Sweet Lovin” and I Love You 1000 Times” to name a few of their multi-million sellers. After the “The Platters” disbanded, Milton continued his work in the music and film industry. You may have seen him in such box office smash hits as; “Roller Coaster” – “Home Alone II/Lost In New York” – “FOLKS” – Straight Talk” – “Gladiator” – “Prelude To A Kiss” – Angel Street” and “Rudy” among others. Presently, his classic ‘solo’ tribute performances as “The Golden Platter” continues to wow audiences-young and old-because of his stage presence and his sensational voice. “The Golden Platter” produces and will performing to shows of his internationally famous“ Back Down Memory Lane with Legends of Yesterday-“The PLATTERS/MOTOWN TRIBUTE SHOWCASE”. Many of you witnessed one of his two performances at the Scottish Rites Theatre last year and requested his return.
