The El Paso Youth Ballet (EPYB) and The University of Texas at El Paso present The Nutcracker November 30th, December 1st and 2nd. This year’s Nutcracker marks the El Paso Youth Ballet’s fourth season bringing this holiday classic to the community featuring the choreography of Erick Campos based on the original by Marius Petipa. The Nutcracker is a Christmas story about Clara, who is given a magical nutcracker by her godfather. After the Christmas festivities, Clara falls asleep with her gift in her arms. That night, the nutcracker is transformed into the Nutcracker Prince and valiantly protects her from the Mouse King and later transports Clara to the land of sweets where she is welcomed by the Sugar Plum Fairy. This year, the role of Clara will be played by Ximena Arzurmendi and Samantha Rosas-Mantilla. The Nutcracker Prince will be performed by Alejandro Falcon, former Principal Dancer with the Compania Nacional de Danza Clasica in Mexico City. Also featured is Angel Laza, Principal Dancer with the Ballet de Monterrey. Christine Howard and Lesley Lopez will be sharing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Daymel Sanchez Cruz, former Principal with the Miami City Ballet will be featured as the Cavalier for the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Pas de Deux.
