Users in a new survey by TiVo say that Clair Huxtable from "The Cosby Show" is their favorite television mom of all time.

Huxtable was No. 1 on the list in an independent survey from the DVR maker.

The character, played by Phylicia Rashad, scored 58 percent of the votes, soundly defeating Marion Cunningham (Marion Ross) from "Happy Days" and Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) from "The Brady Bunch" -- who finished in a tie for second place with 37 percent of the votes.

"First of all, she was a real human being. She was a devoted wife and mother with a great sense of humor and a definite awareness of her own self," said Rashad in a statement from TiVo. "People look to the mother as the embodiment of the family. She was the mother that children love, that husbands adore, and that women want to be."

Rounding out the top five were June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) from "Leave it to Beaver" and Marge Simpson (voiced by Julie Kavner) from "The Simpsons."

Another animated television mom, Wilma Flintstone (voiced by Jean Vander Pyl) came in at No. 6 on the list, followed by Vivian Banks (Janet Hubert) from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and Caroline Ingalls (Karen Grassle).

Maggie Seaver (Joanna Kerns) from "Growing Pains" and Marie Barrone (Doris Roberts) rounded out the top 10.

Among the television moms in TiVo's top 20 were Lois Griffin from "Family Guy" (voiced by Alex Borstein), Shirley Partridge (Shirley Jones) from "The Partridge Family" (No. 13), Rosanne (Rosanne Barr) from "Rosanne" (No. 15), Carmella Soprano (Edie Falco) from "The Sopranos" (No. 16) and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) from "Desperate Housewives" (No. 17).
