Here are the upcoming half hour Connect with Kids specials: December 2008 Show Title: "Young Guns" (gun violence in urban America) Broadcast Date: December 20, 2008 at Noon Brief Description: The squeeze of a trigger is an instantaneous and almost effortless act that can cause death and grief and a life-time of pain. Murder is the number one cause of death among young African-Americans, the second leading cause of death among all young Americans, and firearms are most involved. Young Guns tells the stories of those devastated by gun violence: victims’ families, gunshot victims paralyzed for life and a young man convicted of murder and imprisoned for 26 years. The program also looks at efforts to reduce violence in a city once called the murder capital of America – Washington, D.C.  Based on "Character Education" curriculum, KFOX Television has a community awareness campaign on both KFOX-TV and KFOXTV.com. KFOX-TV has made a three year commitment to this project. During the school year parents, teachers, students and the community will come together to Connect! "Character Education" curriculum will be taught in the classroom, outside resources will be available on KFOXTV.com and community awareness promotional spots will run on KFOX-TV. It's an opportunity to educate and bring awareness to the entire community topical issues of interest to our youth and do it through these Character Traits: |
