Police in East Haven, Conn., released video of a stolen boat falling off the back of a truck on Interstate 95, Hartford television station WFSB reported.

Police said Patrick Holland, 38, stole a 32-foot Boston Whaler from Diamond Auto Sales and lead police in a pursuit that ended with the boat flying off the trailer.

Police eventually caught up to Holland and took him into custody.

“I’m sick over it,” said Diamond Marine dealer Mark Misbach. “It’s a sold boat to a customer, electronics are already installed and to see that happening is just sickening.”

Holland was talking to representatives at Diamond Marine about buying a boat. Misbach said Holland is a long-time customer. He said Holland had his heart set on the boat that was already sold.

“We told him it was sold already and he still wanted to buy it. ...I told him it was not going to happen, and he went outside and went off,” Misbach said. “It’s the best boat out there, reliable. I can probably see why he wanted it so badly.”

Police said Holland backed his pickup truck to the boat, hooked it up, and took off. A Diamond employee called 911, leading to the pursuit on the interstate.

The dealership is working with the boat’s owner. Some of the workers said the entire hull of the boat may need to be replaced.
