Man Gobbles Pot After Crash, Police Say

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A man who tried to eat his marijuana stash after a Sacramento vehicle crash was arrested Monday, the California Highway Patrol said.Authorities responded at 11:30 a.m. after the man's car smashed into a utility pole, Sacramento television station KCRA reported.The driver, described only as a man in his 20s, was found with a green substance around his mouth, said Lizz Dutton of the CHP.Dutton said police believe the man visited a nearby Dairy Queen to buy an ice cream. He left the restaurant and then crashed his vehicle a short time later.Police said the man likely was not paying attention, bent down to pick something up and was involved in the wreck.The man was taken to University of California-Davis Medical Center for drug and blood testing.The crash knocked out power, cable and phone service in the immediate area.
