'Up' Gets DVD, Blu-Ray Date

Disney-Pixar Hit Lands Nov. 10

In November, fans of Carl, Russell and Dug will be able float upward with "Up" on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment announced Monday that Disney and Pixar Animation Studios' summer blockbuster hit, "Up," will land on home video Nov. 10.

The animated adventure, starring the voices of Ed Asner (Carl Fredricksen), Christopher Plummer (Charles Muntz), Delroy Lindo (Beta), Jordan Nagai (Russell) and Bob Peterson (Dug), has earned more than $287 million at the North American box office and nearly $80 million overseas since its May 29 release.

The DVD will include commentary by director Pete Docter and Peterson, who co-directed and co-wrote the film. In addition, the release will include an all-new short "Dug's Special Mission," as well as "Partly Cloudy," the short-film that played in theaters before "Up."

The release also features the alternate endings to final scene with Charles Muntz, and a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the film.

"Up" follows the adventures of Carl, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman who aims to fulfill a lifelong dream to travel to South America by attaching thousands of balloons to his house. Unbeknowst to Carl, though, is that a Wildness Explorer, Russell, has accidentally come along for the ride.

The Blu-ray release includes hours more of bonus features, includes special looks at artwork, research into the characters and the examination of how floating a house with balloons could be physically possible. Also included is the artwork that inspired the film's pivotal "Married Life" scene.
